Fighting Green Hornets Read to Succeed!
art by S. L. Jackson

The Aiken High School Media Center currently houses more than 20,200 books, more than 12 books per student. We have more than 3,640 Accelerated Reader titles, 15 computers for student and staff use, videos, vertical files, teacher resources, a network printer and a copy machine. With Ms. Young's help and a grant from Public Education Partners, we hope to soon add e-books to our collection, as well.

We are located in the center of the main building (at the end of the B Wing lockers).
Here are some photos to help you find us:

PATRON SUPPLIES
On the left, across from the circulation desk, you will see black shelves with important news posted, sports calendars, the daily announcements, and supplies for your use: hand sanitizer, lotion, tissues, scissors, transparent tape, a stapler, rulers, a three hole punch, lined paper, scrap paper, plain white paper, colored paper, brown bags for use as book covers, newspapers to cut up for articles or projects, a dustpan for messes, and more. Electric pencil sharpeners sit between the banks of computers. Look toward the ceiling for the red pole streamers to help you find them.

BOOK AND RESOURCE CHECK OUT
You may check out items from the library if you have a school-issued temporary badge or your identification badge.

BOOK AND RESOURCE RETURN

To return books or other borrowed items, place them in the rectangular hole in the side of our wooden circulation desk (which we call the Book Return).

This library map may help you find books and resources.

OUR LIBRARY CATALOG

Our Sagebrush library catalog is not yet available online. To access our library catalog, you must be logged into a school computer and click on the Novell taskbar. Then, click on the InfoCentre icon. When the catalog search box comes up, you can proceed or select an Advanced Search. If your classes are doing a project, you can borrow our art supplies instead of buying your own, if you promise to return them safely.

If you want to read with students in small groups or as a class, we have some sets of novels available for teacher check out. If you don't find what you are looking for on this list, ask and we'll try to help you locate it.

OUR LIBRARY VIDEO FORM FOR TEACHERS

Teachers need permission from an administrator to show a video in the classroom to students.  The form is in our teacher handbook, but you can also access one here.
